Edison Barton began studying the violin at the age of eight and currently studies with violinist Katrina Savitski in Houston, Texas. He is a member of the Houston Youth Symphony Sinfonia Orchestra, one of the Houston area’s most competitive youth ensembles. He previously performed with the Opus 99 Youth Orchestra in 2022 and was a dedicated member of the Opus 1 Chamber Music Ensemble from 2022 to 2025.
Edison has earned recognition at regional, state, and national levels. He was accepted into the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 27 Middle School Symphony Orchestra, ranking No. 1 out of 180 violinists through a rigorous adjudicated audition process and performing as Concertmaster in 2025. He was also recognized as an Outstanding Soloist by National Orchestra Honors.
He earned Honorable Mention in the Houston Youth Symphony Concerto Competition in both 2025 and 2026. In 2025, he received a “Superior Plus,” the highest rating awarded at the Gold Cup Federation Festival by the National Federation of Music Clubs. He also received an “Exceptional with Honors” rating at Level 7 from the American String Teachers Association Certificate Advancement Program.
On a national level, Edison was named the 2024 Junior Honors Recital Solo Concerto Competition Winner at Interlochen Arts Camp.
Edison has attended several distinguished summer programs, including the American Festival for the Arts (Houston), the Philadelphia International Music Festival (Junior Division and Italy), the Midori Summer Music Lab, and the Victoria Conservatory of Music Senior Strings Summer Intensive.
At school, Edison serves as Concertmaster of the Sprague Middle School Chamber Orchestra and was recognized as a CFISD “Star Student” in October 2024. Beyond music, he enjoys playing guitar, singing, drawing, baking, fishing, basketball, and riding his bike and electric scooter.
