Shuwei Liu is a distinguished violin educator with a career spanning more than three decades in the United States. A graduate of the Violin Department at Shandong University of Arts in China, she brought her deep grounding in classical tradition to the U.S. in 1988 and has since guided generations of young musicians to excellence.
Her students have earned top prizes in major competitions—especially in violin concertos—and many have continued their studies at leading institutions, including MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Stanford, and UC Berkeley. Among her notable protégés is acclaimed violin soloist Linus Zhang, whose artistry reflects her rigorous and inspiring mentorship.
