Sound Espressivo is the first online LIVE streaming Competition for musicians of all ages. Contestants and judges focus on unique artistry of every performer, awarding prizes offered by music management companies. Donate to UNICEF Follow us on socials! Big thank you to all supporters! We are extremely grateful everyone who donated funds, produced the event, helped get the public aware and informed. The Fundraiser was a great tribute to human empathy and collaboration. This campaign is now closed CHICAGO’S UKRAINIAN INSTITUTE FOR MODERN ART PARTNERS WITH VIRTUAL CONCERT HALLS TO HOST A LIVE GLOBAL INTERNET BROADCAST TO BENEFIT UNICEF USA All Funds Raised will Support Emergency and Humanitarian Aid for Ukrainian Families and Children Suffering from the Devastation of War Wednesday, April 13, 2022 6:00am-11:59pm EST/EDT Chicago -- On April 13, 2022, the Ukrainian Institute for Modern Art (UIMA) is partnering with Virtual Concert Halls (VCHS) , a Virginia-based ITV producer, to host a global online fundraising effort to benefit UNICEF USA, who are committed to providing emergency aid to families and children in Ukraine. The event will stream to multiple social media platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and LinkedIn. Virtual Concert Halls will take the 18-hour live Internet Web stream from 5:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. CT from the Institute’s gallery and distribute it live to major social media platforms. Virtual Concert Halls streams live events from all over the world and are experts at streaming simultaneously on multiple social media platforms. Throughout the broadcast, news anchors will interview a wide variety of people who are close to the situation in Ukraine including historians, scholars, lawmakers, young Ukrainian refugees who recently arrived in Chicago, among others. UNICEF has been in Ukraine for 25 years—and it is on the ground now, delivering safe water, health and hygiene supplies, blankets, warm clothes and psycho-social care to children and their families. Security is especially crucial during this time when many children and youth are separated from their families which leaves them in indescribably vulnerable. Donations are accepted any time before, during, and after the live stream. According to a recent statement by UNICEF USA, two million children have now been forced to flee Ukraine, as the war rages on. “The situation inside Ukraine is spiraling,” said UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell. “As the number of children fleeing their homes continues to climb, we must remember that every single one of them needs protection, education, safety and support.” In a joint statement, Motria Melnyk, President of the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art and Marta Farion, Vice President said, "The war in Ukraine is breaking all of our hearts and so the opportunity to make our facility the staging area for this amazing fundraising effort was enthusiastically welcomed by our board and staff." In addition to her work at the Ukrainian Institute, Farion is also the president of the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of America. Virtual Concert Halls co-founder, Anna Ouspenskaya, said, “We are deeply touched and honored to be included in this project. People on our team come from different continents and backgrounds, but many of us share one thing in common: we carry scars and pains of being raised in the countries of the former Soviet bloc, or have relatives who endured the horrors of that terrible regime. Working on this project is the least we can do for Ukrainians who are enduring unimaginable pain. My colleagues at VCHS and I myself are putting our whole hearts into this effort.” HELPING UNICEF IN UKRAINE Internet Broadcast is spearheaded by veteran public radio broadcaster, Steve Robinson, President of New Media Productions. In 2003 for the victims of the tsunami and again in 2010 for victims of the earthquake in Haiti, Steve organized all-day fundraisers in involving virtually all Chicago television and radio stations that each raised $3 million in humanitarian assistance. “I hope this 18-hour continuous stream raises millions of dollars for UNICEF in this emergency,” Robinson said. ABOUT UNICEF: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) works in more than 190 countries and territories to pursue a more equitable world for every child. UNICEF has helped save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization, by providing health care and immunizations, safe water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more. UNICEF USA advances the global mission of UNICEF by rallying the American public to support the world’s most vulnerable children. Together, we are working toward a world that upholds the rights of all children and helps every child thrive. For more information, visit www.unicefusa.org. • Virtual Live Performing FAQ | Sound Espressivo

Virtual Live performing - what can go wrong? What are the ways to prepare the troubleshooting so even the most complex live multicast will go smooth and stress-free? Live Internet Broadcast FAQ Can something go wrong during my performance? Yes. Something can go wrong. Live Virtual Stage and live Virtual Concert Hall are relatively new inventions of humanity, and Internet TV hadn’t been around the block for much more than a decade. The tech connections/integrations are complex, consist of many elements which must be made to work together in sync in real time. VCHS’ production crews consist of very experienced people who directed over 600 live broadcasts with 1,000s of participants. They’ve been called “Harry Potters of live music on a virtual stage”. You will be served by some on the best professionals in the industry. But still - things CAN go wrong during your performance! What can go wrong? What to expect if something does go wrong? What? During your tech check our producers may find that your tech is not able to perform adequately or reliably Solutions? We will offer you to reschedule for the next available date/session. We will give you instructions what you need to do to be prepared. What? Tech can fail while you are waiting for your turn in the Green Room, or while you are in the Competition Backstage, or even just before your turn. Solutions? We will walk you through the steps you need. Keep a close watch of the internal chat in the Broadcast Studio and follow producers’ instructions. You will not miss performing in your session! We will change the order of performances and you will perform later in the same session What? After our producers fine tune your tech settings and complete your audio/video tech checks you will transition to the Competition Backstage. Your tech can automatically revert to default settings during the transition Solutions? Take careful notes during your tech check, double-check to make sure your settings are the same, before entering Competition Backstage. “I did everything right and according to your producer’s recommendations. Can something still go wrong during my performance??” Unlikely, but something still can go wrong. As mentioned above: live virtual performance relies on young and cutting edge technology, and requires for many complex puzzle pieces to perform in sync AND in real time. It is a journey which may not be best suitable for you if you are prone to stage fright, or expect to feel traumatized if you need to deal with a sudden change of how things unfold. Please be mindful of your own feelings and do not take unnecessary risks. Virtual stage will keep developing and eventually will become as reliable as electricity in a physical concert hall. One can always just wait a bit longer for the tech to reach that stage of perfection! We now take our beautifully illuminated concert venues for granted, don’t we? But 10-20 years after Edison’s invention they didn’t look nearly as glorious as today. Your evening concerts were illuminated by a jumble of wires with weird looking glasses hanging from them, giving out flickering yellowish light, and sometimes turning off altogether “What will will your tech team do if something happens while I perform??” We will not let your performance look or sound in subpar quality, get “frozen”, get “muted”, etc. Instead we will: Interrupt your performance Take you off the stage Give you access link to our Troubleshoot Tech Room Our producers will work with you on solving the problems If we can solve the issues within reasonable time - we will bring you back onstage and you will have another opportunity to perform your program within the same session If the issues persist and we can’t resolve them right there and then - we will reschedule your performance for the next available date/session. "I have great and fast WiFi connection, a new generation IPad, and I’ve done 2 years of studying/teaching online. No worries, I am well prepared for your stream, there’s nothing that can go wrong from my side." Unfortunately things can still wrong: IPads are not suitable for Internet TV broadcasting, the technology of an iPad does not support connecting to a Broadcast Studio and streaming live music. Please be prepared to use a laptop or desktop. WiFi connection, although often workable, may become unreliable and not sustain the stream throughout the duration of your performance, no matter how fast. Ethernet cable connection is highly recommended as it provides stability of your signal. Both, the speed and stability are essential for quality broadcasting of a live music performance. However, WiFi connection may work fine. Just please be prepared that the transmission made through WiFi connection may lack consistency when compared with the transmission by people who are able to connect to a grounded Router using Ethernet Cable. Ok, I got the Ethernet cable, now we are all set, right? Almost. Please make sure that your cable is connected to the grounded Router. Please refer to our recommendation deck on how to identify that you are really connecting to the correct type of Router. If you are connecting to a Wi-Fi-based Router, or to a Wi-Fi-based Booster, or another Internet device which is not connected to your provider via a grounded cable – you are not improving the connection by using Ethernet cable. The logic is simple: Ethernet cable is used with a purpose to eliminate wireless Internet connection at any point in the chain.

  • Innovative | Sound Espressivo

How innovative is your art? Find out here! Sound Espressivo is the first online LIVE streaming Competition for classical musicians of all ages. Contestants and judges focus on unique artistry of every performer, awarding prizes offered by music management companies. innovative Find ways to express music that's never been heard before and charms everyone away! In-Depth There's lots of music that has withstood ages and generations, but such music was once new and innovative, composed or performed in a way that was never heard or seen before. Without new, there can be no progress to new heights and discoveries. The difficult part is always finding something new that can connect the audience to your idea and get them to be able to follow along and join on your moving train of transformation. General Criteria (평가기준) New - purpose of innovation is to try and explore new ways of expressing and delivering music that enriches our experience of it from a new angle. This is essential. Cohessive - all elements of what you're doing must be wrapped neatly together in order for you to be able to string along others on your journey, especially people who may not arrive at the comprehension the same way you did. Meaning - all the new needs to have a goal greater than just being different and "not done before." It needs to serve and express a meaning and connect to a feeling and the audience Resonant - the last and very important part of coming up with new creative interpretations and pursuits is for it to be innately clear enough that it can truly impact us and turn some heads.

  • Swift | Sound Espressivo

Is your art and music swift enough? Find out here! Sound Espressivo is the first online LIVE streaming Competition for classical musicians of all ages. Contestants and judges focus on unique artistry of every performer, awarding prizes offered by music management companies. SWIFT Show off incredible speeds and blow us away with your crisp playing! In-Depth Playing music is just as athletic as any sport, requiring a large amount of precision and training to perfect the art. Some musicians find excitement in pushing the bounds of fast playing to levels beyond our imagination and comprehension, showing the world what humans are capable of. Swift performers work to push the metronome to its breaking point and impress in a clear cut way. General Criteria (평가기준) Extreme Tempo - speed of switching between notes and coordinating faster is one of the two key components to impressing the club of swift players. Extreme Accuracy - accuracy of landing every note and change is the other key component to flashy playing. Marvelous Presentation - playing fast is one thing, but looking as if you didn't break a sweat doing it and maybe had time to wink at the crowd can truly bring the heat to the audience. Consistency - staying flashy is great an all, but doing it for the entire duration of a piece and testing on bigger and harder works without faltering is showing true mastery.
